On March 12, 2020 USATF sent out a global message to the membership with updates relative to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

We also encourage everyone to follow the recommendations and updates from the CDC, including proper hygiene practices.  Finally, we recommend membership and associations to seek the guidance of their local authorities, as this is a fluid issue being handled in different locations based on differing risk factors

The USATF Southern Association Executive Committee held a conference call on yesterday to discuss and evaluate our 2020 sanctions calendar and the impact that the pandemic coronavirus (COVID-19) will have on these scheduled events. This pandemic continues to spread causing many events to be canceled and postponed.
Both governors of our demographic areas, Louisiana and Mississippi have declared a state of emergency to help fight back the coronavirus in their respective states.

"The biggest impact is social distancing, small groups and not going out in public with large groups."  The suggested number of people that should gather is down from 250 to 10.
In the best interest of the body, it is the consensus of the Executive Committee that all practices be suspended and track meets be cancelled/postponed, and there will be no sanctions issued until after April 30th.   The Executive Committee will reevaluate the situation and provide the body with an update on May 1st.

Our main priority is to safeguard the health and well-being of our constituents.  Because the policies and situations vary by states, we encourage each of you to stay educated and informed and follow the recommendations of the local health authorities and the CDC.  We thank you in advance for your understanding.

Note:  If you have an event that has been or needs to be postponed or cancelled, please contact Ms. Buckley at and she will direct you accordingly.
